Yes, private health insurance claims can be made on the spot in most cases.

WorkCover claims will need to be paid in full on the day and claimed later using an invoice.

No. You do not need a GP referral to undergo osteopathy or massage therapy treatment. However your GP may recommend osteopathy treatment to you and may include it in a Chronic Management Plan (formerly Enhanced Primary Care or EPC). Please bring any documents your GP has provided with you to your initial consultation.

No, not necessarily. Osteopaths are trained in performing clinical assessments and making a diagnosis from the assessment. If clinically indicated, your Osteopath will advise you if imaging will be of benefit to your condition and treatment. However, if a medical practitioner has referred you for imaging prior to your appointment, please bring the report and images to your initial osteopathy consultation.

Treatment requirements are different for each person and are dependent on a number of factors such as the presenting condition, past and current medical history and the goals of the individual. Your Osteopath will provide you with guidance on your treatment at your initial consultation.

We recommend you take your medications as usual, as prescribed by your prescribing medical practitioner.

Booking Deposit & Cancellation Policy

To secure your appointment at Box Hill Osteopathy (Box Hill or Burwood East), a $50 deposit is required at the time of booking. This applies to all appointments, including new and returning patients.

Your deposit will be credited towards the cost of your consultation on the day of your appointment.

Need to Cancel or Reschedule?

We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

You can notify us by:

  • Replying to your appointment SMS reminder; or
  • Calling us on 0413 331 133.

If at least 24 hours’ notice is provided, your deposit can either be transferred to a future appointment or refunded in full.

Late Cancellations & Missed Appointments

For appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or not attended, the full consultation fee will be payable.

This fee reflects the loss incurred by the practice as a result of the reserved appointment time being unavailable to other patients who may have required care.

As we maintain an active waitlist, short-notice cancellations often prevent us from offering that appointment time to other patients seeking treatment.

Our cancellation policy helps us provide timely access to appointments for all patients while ensuring fairness and sustainability of our practice.

We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your support.
