Osteopathy GP Care Plans Box Hill & Burwood East

Whilst it isn’t necessary to have a referral from a GP, if a patient is eligible, they may receive government assistance, through Medicare, to access the services of Allied Health providers including Osteopaths. This program is called the Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP).

To be eligible to receive a partial rebate from Medicare for osteopathy, patients must be under the care of their usual GP as well as two other health professionals, which can include an Osteopath. Examples of other health professionals may include a psychologist, rheumatologist, psychiatrist, physiotherapist or other. The aim of the program is to cater for patients with complex medical needs whose conditions have likely been present for at least six months.

Box Hill Osteopathy accept GP care plans. Osteo Box Hill and Osteo Burwood clinics, Eastern Melbourne, Victoria

At Box Hill Osteopathy we can support you with osteopathy treatments under your GP Care Plan at both our Box Hill and Burwood East Osteopathy clinics.

A GPCCMP give patients who are eligible up to five sessions a calendar year with an allied health professional of their choosing.

While unused sessions may roll over the following year, they are counted as part of the five sessions for the subsequent year. For example, if your GP has referred you with a GPCCMP dated in December 2025 and you use the sessions starting in January 2026, then you are unable to receive a further five sessions that year. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders can claim additional services.
