Box Hill Osteopathy is an approved service provider for Work Safe Australia at both our Box Hill and Burwood East osteopathy clinics. Workers in Victoria, who are injured during the course of their work are able to receive compensable osteopathic management through the Worksafe Victoria program.
Osteopaths are registered primary healthcare providers who are able to provide injury rehabilitation services through the Workcover program. Osteopathic treatment through the Workcover program aims to reduce pain, improve functional capacity and return the injured worker to the workplace as soon as possible.
Osteopathic treatment, under the workplace agreement, is driven by adherence to the nationally endorsed Clinical Framework for the Delivery of Health Services. This includes adherence to the following guidelines;
- Clinical treatment must focus on measurable outcomes
- A biopsychosocial framework is applied to individual presentations
- Encouragement of active management strategies
- Focus on functional treatment goals
- Treatment should focus on current scientifically supported best practice
Additionally, Osteopaths have communication, cooperation and reporting roles within the Worksafe program. At Box Hill Osteopathy, our role is to identify risks that might prevent individuals from returning to work. We work within an integrative framework, consulting other professionals that have been engaged to help you return to work.
No referral is required from a medical practitioner to consult an Osteopath under the Workcover program.
Workcover has a set of scheduled fees that covers osteopathic treatment up to a certain amount. The schedule can be found here.

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) enables individuals to claim reimbursement for osteopathic treatment when they have suffered injury following a motor vehicle accident. A file must be claimed through the TAC website before any individual is entitled to reimbursement.
At Box Hill Osteopathy we can support you on your way to recovery at both our Box Hill and Burwood East osteopathy clinics.
In the case of a major traffic accident, medical care must be sought first in addition to making contact with the TAC. In cases that are considered minor, you are required to consult your GP as well as contacting the TAC. It’s important to be aware that minor incidents require payment of an excess.
New claims process must include seeking medical help from your GP and following the instructions on the TAC website.
